- Ensure the airway is being managed
- Apply the brakes on the trolley and operating table
- Catheter - hold clear
- Drains - hold clear
- Monitoring lines - hold clear
- Intravenous lines - hold clear
- Ensure suction equipment can reach the patient's airway
- Ensure tourniquet won't snag
- Transfer patient to operating table
Immediate life support...
- Attach the pulse oximetry probe
- Place arm supports
- Position patient for surgery
- Protect pressure points
- Fit tourniquet - if applicable
Physiology setup...
- Connect the IV line - ensure correct flow rate
- Attach monopolar diathermy plate (unless bipolar)
- Place ankle supports
- Fit flowtrons
- Fit Bear Hugger
Field setup...
- Switch on and position table lights
- After draping and skin prep, switch on Bear Hugger
- Attach and position suction carousel
- Conduct WHO checks
- Complete ORMIS times
Transfer from operating table:
Follow the method for transferring to the table, plus ensure an oxygen cylinder,
mask, and T-bag are available.
